Modifying DLE 35ra muffler

I have a new Dle 35ra and I searched and didn't see anything on this. Would making the stock muffler longer make it quieter. I have some room to have it hang lower with same dimensions, just do not know if making it bigger will help,I am thinking 1-2" added below the mounts.
I Have the metals and welder..
I do not have room for a canister unless it mounts to the btm of the fuse between the gear.thanks

Adding silicone extensions will make the tone more acceptable. I have done this on several gas engine mufflers.

And you can also use the little silencer plugs that are available from Valley View and TBM.
Oh, and less chance of muffler damage on a nose over.
Of course this is hypothetical, since I never, ever have a runway overrun:rolleyes:
OK, the silicone tubing may rip,,,,,,don't ask:)

I don't believe the stock muffler is strong enough to support any additional added structure. There are quite a few reports of the 35 and 55 rear exhaust mufflers self destructing as is ... especially the ones provided before they went to the plastic tube extensions. If you want a larger, quieter muffler, I would consider having a company such as Jtec custom build one for you. Or as indicated, you have the equipment so you could probably make one yourself. As a rule, any time you enlarge the muffler chamber it will be quieter.

Thanks for the help, I think I will keep the stock muffler using the silicone extensions out the cowl btm ..how would adding 4-6" of SS thin wall tubing after the silicone tubing sound. Like 2 exhaust pipes beveled..
