mintor 22 info needed

Hi,

I picked up a P51 at a swap meet, and it has a mintor 22 on it. I have no info on it and have tried to find info on the net.

I have had no luck, I must have oil mix, and any other info I can get.

Thanks

"You will even find one being used as target practice "

That is funny, the only good thing is I bought the plane for a good price and am not being hurt with this engine. It would have been a better buy if its a good engine.
Yes I will see how it runs, it should pull the plane well enough if it runs at stated RPM's with suggested prop.

Thanks for the help

There is a thread here where guys got new pistons made for their Mintor 22. It worked out well.

Unfortunately all of the Mintor 22 engine's I have had here have had under size pistons as much as.006-.007 which makes the piston unstable and quickly ruins the ring and very soon the compression is gone if there ever was any to start with.

Stick 40,I've had one in my Pulse 125 and haven't had a single problem yet with about two and a half gallons through it.It's probably one of best running enginesI have, easy to start after the first start of the day,and I don't think I've touched the needles since I first ran it on a test stand,I run mine on 100LL and Stihl dino oil at 32:1 have since day one.Good luck with yours.Just run it,you've got nothing to lose.
