carb setting
Hi
I have a Turnigy 26 side carb, lost the booklet (such as it was). Does anyone know the carb settings on both set screws from the shut position? thanks for any help Jack |
1.5-1.75 turns out on both to start. You will probably have to adjust from there.

Thanks for the info Mogman, I'll give it a try tomorrow

Pretty much applies to most gas engines. About 1.5 out on both needles should allow the engine to run. From there, adjust to dial it in to best performance.

Yep. I always laugh at the magazine articles and thread posts that brag, "It ran perfectly right out of the box with the factory settings." There is no such thing as "factory settings". Only in so far as those settings will hopefully help you get it started. You have to tune it from there depending on your prop, fuel, elevation, oil, oil ratio, tune, airplane, atmospheric pressure, barometric pressure, humidity, and the phase of the moon. :) Well, maybe not the "phase of the moon" but I swear, everything you can imagine affects the exact needle settings to achieve a perfect run. The good new is, once you get there, it will rarely change much on a gas engine; much different from a glow engine that can change ideal settings from morning to afternoon.

I dunno.
"Even a man who is pure in heart…. And says his prayers by night….. May have a cranky engine when the wolf bane blooms…. And the autumn moon is bright". So sayeth the wolf man. ;) |
That's the best method I have heard on how to set the needles on a carb.
Brilliant ! |
