Help identify an engine?
I'm trying to help a friend identify an engine. The casting has the letters "BRC" on the left side. Internet search has yielded nothing. Has anyone any information?
|
A picture might be worth a thousand words???
|
BRC engineering in Canada makes killer kart engines but from the photo I can't tell if it's there's or not.
|
No picture available at this time. He brought the engine over to my shop and I was all over the internet trying to discover anything I could about the engine. Found the cart engine website, but nothing about smaller engines. This thing is either 20 or 25 cc's. Hall effect ignition with the sensor located at the rear of the engine next to the carb. Basic construction/design is like a glow engine....it's not a converted industrial engine at all. It's purpose-built for aircraft. The only markings on it are "BRC."

Look up an RCS 1.40 and see if is the same engine rebranded. |
I think you've found it. I'll forward this thread to a buddy and then check.
Thank you! |
The RCS has the Hall effect sensor built in the crankcase. I had one. It does not have any initials on it.I currently have an RCS44B2 which is two of those cylinders made into an opposed twin. It also has its hall effect sensor in the crankcase. They were made by Moki of Germany

I remember that the ignition box had the word "Moki" on it. I have forwarded the link to my friend that owns the engine. Somebody getting out of the hobby gave it to him and he plans to sell it on ebay. At least now he knows what it is. Thanks to all for their timely responses!

I posted the photo of the RCS as depiction of the engine . MRC is an engine manufacturer that makes and rebrand several different brands of engine , moki , mark , rcs and the list goes on . Each brand may have changes that are specific to their brand but basically they look very similar , particularly some of the mrc and rcs.

CK1,
Thank you for all your help! Hopefully, someday I can return the favor. |
You're welcome , but really no thanks are needed .We are are all here for each other aren't we.
|
I was raised to say thank you when somebody helps me.
As far as the second part, I'd like to believe that is so, but there seems to be a few on these forums that use it as a vehicle to attack others with impunity. I have little patience with that type. So again, thank you! |
