Engine make and size

Hello all,
I just bought an Ultra Stick 120 and it came with a gas engine on it. The guy told me is a tgy 52cc. I looked up that engine, and it doesn't look all the same. Similarities include: the head, the prop shaft and case. The difference is, and I think this is a big one is, the carb. In all the pics I see online, that engine's carb comes out the side of the engine. On mine, it is a rear carb. Also, the prop recommendation is 20 inch and up. There is only an 18 on mine. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I can supply pics for.further assistance. Thanks guys.

Well as you say, it isn't the TGY 52. A friend has that engine and the photos look nothing like that one. I'll check some old ad's and see if I can come up with anything.

thanks, I'm going to continue to investigate as well.

I have a big Ultra Stick and no 52 cc would fit like this. I think you have some sort of 20 to 30 cc?

Looks like a RCG 26 to me

+1, Pegasus ign. module would be something commonly seen with an RCGF engine as well. I run mine on an 18x6

Looked at a rcgf, and it's similar, but still not right. I wonder if it's a knockoff of some brand name. Just wish I could identify it. I know it's not a 52cc.

I was going to say early RCGF or one of the SV engines. tlojak38, keep in mind this engine is an older model that is no longer available so you won't be finding it in any new product listings. You'll have to go back a few years to find it. Note the cylinder that was originally cast for use with a piston ported carburetor .... and the area was never opened up for the carb. Some of the engines in that period just used cover plates for the carb port on the cylinder. Later engines (current) have completely different cylinder castings designed with no provision for a cylinder mounted carb.

RCG sold by Hobby King , Not RCGF!!!

Not saying you're wrong, but wondering what you see that's making you think that?

I think we have a winner.

Edit: I was wrong about this engine being no longer available but will stick to saying it is an older design. This is the sort of engine that was common out of China some years ago. It'll get the plane in the air though and that's what counts.

Winner winner chicken dinner!!! That's it! Thanks for all the help guys. I feel so much better knowing what it is. Now should I feel good about what it is?!? I only buy dle when it comes to gas engines, no experience with anything else.

RCG/RCGF are the same engines. Though they are only supposed to be selling RCG, it's easy to see in the add copy that you re looking at an RCGF. Hobbyking can't even keep them straight.

The only difference in RCG vs. RCGF is who's selling it (Hobbyking or vendors going through stateside distribution) and who is supporting them after the sale (best of luck with HobbyKing).

The box they come in, and contents will be identical in my experience.
