Saw some new type of starter last year at flyins didnt get who sells them? any idea these were up to 100cc gas had lipo mounted on them, thanks

The planetary output is the 1st thing to go. But they work well until then.

There were a couple of small starters with planetary gear sets built in available for heli's a while back. They seemed to work pretty good on those. How big an engine will you be playing with?
|
$145 plus a big battery to turn it over. Just to save a little arm flipping.

Looks like 79.00 plus a lipo, found it searching the internet, yes I just had total shoulder replacement and want to keep flying,

Planetary gear reduction The problem with planetary gear reduction is that many times they aren't sized properly for the job they perform. If your application imparts more torque to the planetary gears than they can handle, they will suffer an early failure. If you see a lot properly sized planetary gear boxes, they are often much larger than you would expect. The starter for sale in the link above does not have planetary gear reduction, just a basic 6:1 reduction, it appears to have reduction with a timing belt and pulleys. |
