DA 50 choke setup
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone out ther have a closeup pic of their choke setup for this engine. I am tryuing to figure out the best way to choke the engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Azhar |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
Most guys I know are using this method. Kent Huntsinger originally turned me on to it. Works great.

RE: DA 50 choke setup
Azhar,
What are you putting the DA-50 into? |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
Hi Galen,
The Da is going into a H9 80" CAP. It was sitting around looking for a home. I also have a TS52 going into 27% CA extra. Azhar PS: Did not see you at the IMAC meet this last weekend. |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
Azhar,
I went out on Sunday and flew the basic sequence with my new 29% Edge 540. I didn't know it was moved to my field from the Big Bird field until it was too late to fly on Saturday. I wasn't going to compete as I'd never flown the full sequence in practice, but they convinced me to try it. I got a caller and went for it. I don't know how I did as I has to leave before the results were posted... Are you planning to fly IMAC next year? |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
Galen,
What 29% Edge are you flying? I am looking for a plane for my DA50. I had it in a Dave Patrick Edge (79" wing, 1200 sq inches of area,), and now I'm looking for something a little bigger, with a little more wing area. I would like the Extreme Flight Yak, but they won't be out for a while. THanks. |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
Hi Paul,
I have the Aeroworks 29% Edge 540 with the airfoil tail. It flies great on the Brison 3.2, but would really be nice with the DA and a 24X8 prop. Getting the CG right with the lighter DA will take a little effort as the airfoil stabs add some tail weight. It is not an ARF, but looks to be fairly easy and straight forward to build. I cheated and bought mine built... ;) The biggest problem I think will be sheeting the wings... The fuselage is a basic box built over some reference lines/datum points on the building surface. The turtle deck and hatch are also sheeted foam... It is an excellent flying model and I am very happy with mine! |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
Thanks Galen,
Too bad it's a kit. I just don't have time, and I'd really just prefer an ARF. I'm having the hardest time finding a good plane in the 85" or 87" range for the DA50. The Extreme Flight YAK at 87" 1450 sq inches of wing, and a 16lb flying weight is just too sweet. Wish there was something out there similar that I liked. |
RE: DA 50 choke setup
I too think the Yak is the best choice! I bought the Edge to "tide me over" while I wait for the Extreme Flight Yak! I have the DA-50 and tuned pipe sitting in the garage, and I am on the pre-order list for the Yak...
