RE: Engine size
I hate calling guys honey:
My older Q-35 had a sticker on the face of the mag rotor and I thought a very small size stamping on a side below the fins. Can't check for sure since I traded it for a G-38. Oops, after 20+ years I remembered I had a parts 35 downstairs. Mine doesn't have any size stamping on it either. If you can give me some dimensions, I'll compare it to this one. |

RE: Engine size
Honey:
Sure does look like my 35, except mine has the recoil start housing. Here's some dimensions. 6 1/2" overall ht. of crank housing to top of cyl. housing 3 1/4" max. fin width looking from front. If your points are clean . it has to be the coil or condenser. Guess that went without saying. Well, throw a bad plug in the mix too. |
RE: Engine size
Take the muffler off and look inside. 1 ring=35cc, 2rings=40cc. They are the same on the outside.

RE: Engine size
Looks like a very old 35 with that prop hub. Not sure but I don't think the 42 had points. Set the points at .015 thou. Coil clearance is .010. Clean the points. Should swing a 18-8 around 72 to 7500. If it runs higher than that it's a 42 which normally runs an 18-10. Have fun.

RE: Engine size
The early 40cc has points, I have one and looks the same as a 35cc. The 42 is a later engine with a cdi as did the later 40 which has one ring.

RE: Engine size
Thanks for all the help. Will start digging into it. I am planning on putting it on a 1/4 scale Sig clipped wing Cub. Should power it like scale.:D:D

RE: Engine size
A G23 would be more scale as far as power. My friend has a Sig clipped wing cub with a G38 and it's over powered. If you keep the throttle back, it will then be very scale sounding as well.
