Gap of plug electrode

I have find the more gap, the idle can be adjusted to more lower and stable... [X(] Can anybody tell me how about the gap of plug electrode will affect engine's performance? Why? :D Just for interest. Thanks.

the longer the spark is the hotter it is, but also the higher the chance of misfire. my experience has actually been the opposite, a larger gap gives me inconsistent idle and horrible transition.
