I'm probably going to be getting a Dave Patrick Extra 330L and haven't made an engine choice. It would seem to be between a ZDZ 40 and Saito 150 single or OS 160 twin four stroke. Anybody have any experience with these combinations? Comments? Suggestions?

Phil,
We all know that the DP extra comes out heavier than what their website says. My buddy who flies it tells me that it will way under powered for 160 FX (or Saito 150)..He runs a BME50 on it & the airplane is absolute BLAST!!! cheers, Mayur |

Where do you get a BME50?

I have the BME 44 gasser in mine and it is perfect. The BME 50 would be even better. To use the rear intake ZDZ 40 you'll have to open a hole for the carb in back of the firewall.
I have close up pic of my BME engine installation in the Patrick. The web page is at http://www.devino.org/mark/airplanepics/dp330l.htm -Cheech |

Nice installation, but again, who sells BME engines?

My friend just got his BME 50 through our local hobby shop here in Chicago. But I think you can get them direct also.

Cheech,
Will the BME 44 pull the extra out of a hover with ease? |
Patrick Power
Feels like it will. The setup is new to me and I haven't gotten it into a good stable hover/TR yet.

Please keep me posted. I'm still unsure if I want to strip my edge of the BME. I don't want to put this motor on and be dissapointed . I'm looking for unlimited performance just like my edge has.
