The only thing I could ad would be this....if it's going into a Gee Bee of any kind, go light on the front end, they love to nose over.
Huh ? ? ? What ? ? ? Yeah right .... Make it tail heavy, nothing flies better then a tail heavy Gee Bee.

The Pic shows my 30% model Z ready to touch down on 3 points. It spans 85", weighs 24 lbs, and is powered and balanced with a Brison 3.2.

a rear bearing has no effect on idle smoothness, or lack of..A good cantilever crank is actually stiffer than the other type...:D
How about if there is only ONE bearing up front? This seems very odd to me, I am in the process of converting two weed eater engines, and my old McCulloch seems high quality, however this Tanaka, well, take a look at the pics, and feel free to comment, BTW, what is the proper name for these types of crankshafts? The one in the little mac looks very beefy, just like a Quadra 75 I had.

Hi AJF, remember when we were deciding which engine to put in out GP Pitts, when they first came out?. We both bouth bought the "taurus", 3.2. I'm still flying my Pitts with the Taurus and i8t's really starting to come around now. Best engine I ever owned. And talk about smoooth, Nothing better. I had a DA 50 in a Patti. Sold it got another Taurus.

I remember it very well. After the sudden demise of my Pitts the Taurus got a 2 1/2 year rest after coming back from Bill O. It is about to go to work in another Miles Reed Pitts (Challenger III) that is the same size at the Great Planes. In fact I fired up the engine today and have about 3 more hours left before a test flight and I can't wait.

I have since gotten another GP Pitts with a ZDZ 50NG and it is a fine engine also-- not a Taurus--but a fine engine. I too, had a DA on an Aeroworks Ultimate. Also a great engine with maybe a bit more power-- but the Taurus can't be beat when it comes to smooooooth.

Well I have moved on to 33% and 35% and I'm useing mostly ZDZ 80 RV in my 33% extra. I have a ZDZ 85/B2 in My Sukhoi. Both are fine engines. I'm glad that you had good luck with your DA 50. Myself I won't take a chance on DA again, after loseing two crank shafts and Piston rods. I'm picking up a new TS69, and another 3.2. Bill swears that there is a great deal of defference between this new model, and the older version. More power, and it only weighs 3.3 lbs.

AP,

I haven't put a smoke system in yet. I plan on doing it but it takes me a while to get things done. I really haven't even looked to see how/where I will put things, I just know I want to do it. Sorry I can't be more help.
