DA50 - Quick questions

Hi all

I need to know the size of the muffler bolts (length and thred size) as they came loose and fell off the plane in flight. Can someone please give that info so that I can go to Home Depot and pick up a couple for tomorrows flying.

Do I really need the gasket for the muffler or can I get by without any. If I do, what are my choices?

And what do you guys use for thread locking the muffler boilts?

Thanks

Azhar

Azhar;
I thought they were 10/32 allens. I just use the ultra copper gasket sealant on both the muffler and the bolts! 1/2"-3/4' length. I'll double check in the am!

Hi DD,

Thanks for the info. I figured out the bolts last night but am wondering about the gasket material. Can you tell me more about the copper gasket sealent and how you would make use of it.

Thanks Dick. The 10/32 had some play in it.

The gasket sealer is called "Ultra Copper"

YES,
This thing is 100% metric even though it is made in the states. It's about time we start catching up with the rest of the world!!! BUT if you order one in the states it comes with standoffs that are metric on the motor side and imperial threads on the firewall side.

RE: DA50 - Quick questions

The ultra copper is a gasket substitute. Clean the surfaces then apply a thincoat to one side. Let it dry for 10min or so and then bolt together. Once completely dry it creates a barrier to stop leaks. On the bolts, add a dab and then screw them in and let dry! I use the ultra copper on most of my screws/bolts where I really dont want them to come loose(instead of locktite!).

Oh, and I remeasured the bolts. 5mm by 5/8".
