Gas engine gnition Module

1 Attachment(s)
I have an old type US engine 41cc. the spring starter gave up and it is no longer available. In order to be able to hand start it I changed the gap between the ignition Module to the flywheel to 0.02" as suggested to me at other post.
At the firs trying to star it there was a sound of "trying to ignite" but no more. A quick test proved there is no spark no more.
The problem has been proved not to be the spark plug nor the gap.
Is it possible that a small gap such as 0.02" (I used a spacer) can "burn" the ignition Module?
If so, does any one have this engine user manual and can verify the minimum gap allowed?

Nope, and a business card is about right for the gap...[8D]
