BME-44 backfiring (FIXED)

What do you think guys?
Ignition module going out?
BME-44, CH Ignition
Was running GREAT then all of a sudden she started missing bad and backfiring.
She then shut off.
On restart it idles great but as soon as you advance the throttle it will start missing and backfiring.
All connections are good and battery is fully charged.
Sounds like the ignition module is not advancing the spark at higher RPMS.
I will call Bill tomorrow at CH Ignition to see what he thinks, but I thought I may get some feed back from you guys tonight.

Thanks Steve

RE: BME-44 backfiring

I had the same thing happen with a new 3.2 Brison. Ran for a minute or two then staring doing what your is. Terry at CH strongly suggested that the carb was the likely cuplrit. I still haven't installed the new carb that Brison sent me yet, so I can't give you anymore than you already know. I suspect the same as you though, that the advance isn't working.

If you find the problem before I do, would you mind sending a PM to me, or posting the cause here?

RE: BME-44 backfiring

Well it turns out it is not the ignition module.
I put my ignition module on from my Taurus and it is doing the same thing.
Anyone have an idea what it may be or where to look next?

RE: BME-44 backfiring

Had the same problem on one of my gassers, it turned out to be the ignition battery. Was using an old 4.8 volt flight pack. It would test OK with an ESV that had a 200ma load. Tested it with a 500ma load and it failed, voltage quickly dropped to 3.9 volts. Changed battery packs, problem solved.

RE: BME-44 backfiring

After calling Bill at C.H. Ignition he said it may be the hall sensor.
So I checked all wiring again by pulling on each wire and sure enough one of the wires at the dean’s connector was loose.
I resoldered it and everything is great now.
Man if you have problem call the guy that knows the ignition system best, Bill at C.H. Ignitions.
THANKS BILL !!!
