DA50 Spinner Bolt Thread Size??
Does anyone know the type/size bolt for attaching a spinner to the DA50s prop shaft?
Thanks, Lee Snover |

Not that I could find, that's why I asked. ;-)

RE: DA50 Spinner Bolt Thread Size??
It is 10-32. Not that I read that anywhere, but I purchased a TruTurn spinner that claims to come with a 10-32 bolt... and it fit the DA-50 perfectly! I was worried that I would need some crazy adapter but it seems just fine as-is.

Thanks guys:
Guess I'll have to check with DA to clear up the confusion. ;-) Regards, Lee |

Here is my email to DA and Daves response.
What bolt size, 10/32 or 5MM, are the prop bolts and the spinner bolt on a DA50-R. Hello They are 5mm but 10/32 works fine for the spinner cone. Stick with 5mm for the prop bolts. Thanks Dave |
RE: DA50 Spinner Bolt Thread Size??
I have bolts for the prop, just need one for the spinner.
Thanks, Lee |

Finding out a 3/16 bolt will fit where you really need a 5mm is one of the things that really makes life wonderful.

RE: DA50 Spinner Bolt Thread Size??
It will work for the spinner bolt, but a 10-32 is about .006 smaller and will strip out if you use one in a place designed for a 5mm, like the prop bolts...
I gotta ask Dave why an engine made in Arizona, USA, uses metric bolts...:D Yes, some of the parts are made elsewhere..The crankcases are made from 7075 aluminum in Tucson, AZ...To the best of my knowledge the ONLY model airplane engine cases made on a CNC machine from 7075, the best and most expensive aluminum alloy, not from CHEAP POROUS castings like some other engines... NO, not all engine cases are CHEAP and POROUS...:D |

Well, they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but I guess those that realize the new tricks lead to more reward are happier.;)
I prefer to divide by ten rather than figure out how many pecks are in a gross of bushels. Or how many ounces in a hogshead!:) I'll take DA quality with the metric...or without![sm=thumbup.gif] |
RE: DA50 Spinner Bolt Thread Size??
You got that right :D
