Ignition kill switch question

Has anyone tried the Opto Isolated E Switch from EMS Jomar? Its sold at Tower and says it can be used for a kill switch by replacing a switch and servo.

I have 2 gassers. One has a CH ignition on it and the other is a magneto. I dont think I would use it to stop the magneto engine, but can I use it to stop the CH ignition?

Says its opto isolated, but I still have to run (metal) wire up to the front to tap into the ignition battery wiring. I thought you couldnt have any wires or conn rods or any other metal up near the engine because it could carry interference back to your receiver.

What should I do?

Thanks.

RE: Ignition kill switch question

Two other companies make optical cutoff switches that may be what you're looking for. There is a review on RCU on the smart-fly optical cut off. The other is Electro Dynamics. I do not have one yet, but will be picking one up shortly. These are truly isolated from the ignition by the fiber optic system.

RE: Ignition kill switch question

I have one of these, I put it on the plane a year ago and it glitched so bad that at 15 feet it was scary to watch. I took it off and all was well. In my opinion save your money, it's not useful for a gas engine, at least it wasn't useful for me and my ZDZ 40 with Falcon ignition.
