BME 50 performance
 

Hi. Just checking to see if anyone has had good results with this motor. RPM'S and choice of props would be helpfull. I'm going to put it on an Aeroworks 29% edge that should weight about 13.75 LBS with a 4 LBS motor and muffler. Thanks

I can't say enough good things about this combo. I flew the 29% Edge with BME 50 all last year in Sportsman class in IMAC. The plane flies very light, and the engine is wonderful. My BME50 never missed a beat. I broke it in with about 5 gallons of 32:1 lawnboy ashless, then switched to Amsoil 2000 at 50:1. When I switched oils, I leaned the needles, and the performance is awesome! Clean midrange, low idle, and tons of power. Starts on the 7th flip every time.

I have never had the BME quit on me and the power is amazing. I would be curious to hear about how you got the plane to come in at 13.75lbs. Mine is just over 15 with 2 batteries and one servo for the rudder. You will love it.

I have two BME 50's I like the 21x8 Menz standard. I have one on a 29% Aeroworks Edge and the Menz works best for me

I am flying my AW 29% with a BME 44 and it flies really well. I can just imagine that the 50 is amazing.
I may fly it with the 44 for the rest of this season and get the 50 for it this winter
Mine also came out just over 15. How'd did you get it below 14?

I just ordered the BME 50, can't wait. My Edge is the new style with the airfoiled stab and rudder. I'm hope the weight comes in as planned. I'm at 9.25LBS with all servos and links installed, no battery packs,RX, switch, spinner and prop, everything else is in. I may be a little over my stated weight but I think I should still be light. Thanks for the info. Whats the best prop to start with? Jim
