TOC 150 and Frustrated

Ok I can not get this engine to like me. The factory settings were BS, put them back the the book.
This is my problem. The engien will pop after being choked, then it will start, but just runs out. I have changed everything. I have rebuilt the fuel tank, installed smaller gas line, looked for air leaks I just do not get it. It will start, jut will not run. I like the engine and wanted it over the DA, but now I just want my DA back, yes it was not as powerful, but it ran envery time.
Any sugestions would help.

RE: TOC 150 and Frustrated

This probably is carb related.
Check the crankcase pulse duct to the carb, and the position of the carb on the manifold. Make sure the hole in the manifold matches with the hole in the carb, or your carb will not pump fuel. (the carb may have been rotated 180 degrees on the manifold)

The pump petal valves may be curled up. This is easy to check by removing the pump cover. (the closed one) If the valve petals do curl up, you need a diaphragm mainenance set. The off neede settings point in this direction.

Before going on a wild goose hunt however, check the inner bronze mesh strainers in the carb. There is one in the pump, and there may be one just before the main jet. They should be clean.

Walt, that was perfect started right up. Man where were you when I needed you last night. So where should the needles end up? and how long do I take to get there?

There really is not set place for needles on carbs. I know the say set them here but all it takes is one carb like yours to have the needle and seat to be set difernet and then your pissed cause the motor wont start.
Now just tune your engine till it runs properly and your ready to go. :)

Hey Rob, Been there and done that guy. Mine was the same way. The engine will tell you where it wants to be. If you have any problems call me. I think you have my number...
