bme 50 ground wire
I would like your opinion on where to mount the braided ground wire for the CH ignition for the BME 50. The manual shows grounding it to the spark plug with a hose clamp. This method looks like it could work itself loose, and I was wondering if there is a better way of doing this. Thanks for the help. Troy

RE: bme 50 ground wire
I have used the HOSE CLAMP IT TO THE PLUG method without any issues. If you have a way to put an EYELET on the end, you could also bolt it down to the head somewhere. Personally though, I would just hose clamp it. Find some hose clamps that are the right size (get several) and clamp it right to the base of the plug. I say get several 'cause you may overtighten and ruin one and you don't want that to keep you from flying.

RE: bme 50 ground wire
I like the hose clamp set up as well and use it. or you can use solder clip that comes with the C H and attach it to any metal fastener on the engine, But not to any screw that bolts the carb on simply because some carbs are mounted to a phenolic block.

RE: bme 50 ground wire
I found a spot to drill /tap for a #6 RHMS and crimped a ring terminal onto the braided wire.
Engine is not a BME50. Is that the one with the nice tooled reliefs on the prop hub? If I want to check a plug for color or flooding I do not have to bother with a hose clamp. They, hoseclamps are unsightly and needless weight. |
