Evolution Gas?
I am in one of those periods where I am going to get a new plane in the next couple of months. It is one that has been on my list for some time now, but other financial requirements have kept me waiting. I am planning to get the Carl Goldburgh Monster Pitts sometime this Summer. One of the items that keep me going back and forth is what engine to use on it. I have considered everything from a Saito 180, to a Zenoah G-26. However, I do see some new gas engines coming from Evolution, the 35 and 26 sizes.
The Evo 26 is very comprable to the Saito 180 and I was wondering what you all thought. Is this engine worth the wait? I know it is new, but it sure looks like it might be what I need. Here are a few stats: Saito 180: 29.1 CC / 1.8 CI - RPM 2,000-10,000 - Prop 15X8-18X6 - HP 2.8 - Weight 31 oz engine only Evo 26: 25.5 CC / 1.55 CI - RPM 1,400 - 1,900 - Prop 17X8 - HP 3.8 @ 9,000 rpm - Weight 33.6 oz Seems very close to me. |
RE: Evolution Gas?
The concensus on the "new" Evolution gas engines are that they are just "relabeled" MVVS gas engines. I have the MVVS 1.6 gas and it's a great engine. You can save a lot of money by ordering them from http://mvvs-nl.com. If you do a search in this forum for the mvvs 1.6 you will find a huge thread with good info.
