BME 44 Quits in Snap
I have a problem in that my BME 44 quits whenever I put in in a violent snap manoeuver. ie a Lomcevak or a left hand snap. It quits about 2 seconds into the manoeuver. Interestingly, it won't happen in a right hand snap.
Because it happens so quickly, I don't think it is a case of fuel starvation between the fuel pickup and the carb. Other than that, the engine runs fine in all non violent manoeuvers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
RE: BME 44 Quits in Snap
Hi stunt-man,
It could be caused by a change flow in the cowling, which the carb sees as a change in air pressure. This can cause an incorrect mixture and stall the engine. BME and others have special carb plates to correct this problem. Try flying the manuver without the cowl and see if the problems clears. If it does you can buy a new plate or make a shield of aluminum or solder a pice of brass tubing to the port. Mount the shield so that it blocks the prop blast without obstructing the port. Dave |
