What engine and what prop? Sometimes over propping leads to a less responsive high needle.

Open the idle needle more. This needle also supplies fuel at WOT.
It may mean you have to fly using an extra rich idle, but that is better than having a lean top end.

Make sure the filter screen inside the carb isn't plugged.

Hawk- I have a BME 110 and I know what you mean. You can unscrew the needle 4 or more turns and it will never become slobbering rich.
Just to be sure so you don't damage the engine trying on the ground to richen it up. Send Keith an e-mail. This is the fastest way to get a response from him, but First check the filter screen like flypaper said. If you can peak it and back off a couple of hundred rpm you should not be to lean.

What rpm are you getting? Is it sagging in up lines?

RE: carb problems

I will never buy another bme
the service was terible in fact the engine was send back 2 times
and never solve anything
But finaly everything looks good I drilled out the high speed fuel passage going in thru where the high speed needle threads in, using small bits and a pen vise. The drill I use was a .059 inch
Now the engine has enough fuel
I tack it at 5820 with a 27x10 menz still a little on the rich side
Thanks to every one for the help

Sorry to hear of your service problems.
I have had nothing but the best service from Keith, Although it is very hard to get him on the phone. I usually e-mail him and have received all my responses with in 1 day.
I also PM'd you Benny

Hello benny
I`m glad that the problem is solved. I have seen you work hard on setting that BME 110 for the past year and all the hassle you have been thru with BME and for my P-51 Mustang I will be buying a ZDZ. I think BME doesn`t care much about how their product performs after they have your money they should have been the ones that should have solved this problem after all you had sent it back to them twice!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: carb problems

Tflame-
After I made my last post I e-mailed Keith asking about this and how mine is somewhat similar but not to this extent. I still can make it rich, just not the usual slobbering rich if I crank out the needle.

Within a matter of hours he replied and has another approach that will work also. He asked me to pass along this information.

The best cure is to raise the fulcrum arm that opens the needle about 1/32 of an inch. This will let the carb pump more fuel and get slobbering rich at about 2.5 turns out. Please share this information with anyone you know with a 110.

Thank you
Keith

RE: carb problems

Thanks Tflame for sharing your knowledge with me
and help me getting this thing running right hopefully it will fly tomorrow
if the weather is good
RTK, the drill I use for the final for was a 0.059 inch I did use a smaller one before that
well Tflame did he is the man when it comes to engines no one matches his knowledge, do not know the exact measure I think it was a .053 or .056 will let you know
later. Remember this are small bits and need to be very careful so that they do not break inside
I will not go with the 0.059 at first.
Benny
