Fox Engine Problem
 

I'm sure someone else has had this problem. 2.4 Fox, starts, runs 20-30 seconds then quits. Ran fine till I moved it to another plane. About three years old. It's getting fuel, new filter, clean spark plug. New battery for ignition. No kinks in fuel line. Carb has not been re-built but like I said, ran fine till I moved it to a new plane. CH products ignition pack too. [ Champion spark plug in it ] Help ! What to do ? Thanks, MM

Check the screen in the carb (the one under the lid with the single large screw in the middle). This can become clogged quite easily and since youve changed planes and assumedly fuel tanks, you could have picked up some trash in the line. If the screen is clogged, I hold it in a tweezers and light it with a match to burn off any fine fuz and then rinse well in fresh fuel and reinstall.

Check proper plug type and gap, too.

Thanks for the advice guys, I took the carb apart and found just the tiniest amount of crude on that small mesh filter and also on the diaphram. Spark plug had just a little grime on it. A possibility of the problem also may be that I was using fuel that had been sitting in the container all winter. It was half full [ or half empty ] so I'm wondering if there was condensation in it. Of course it ws going to get sucked-up as I filled the plane tank. Will test start it tonight. I also saw that the fuel filter was ahead of the fueling dot and that of course would stop any crude from going into the tank but would send it right into the carb upon starting. So, I put another filter just before fuel goes into the carb. Lets see what happens now. Seeya, MM:D

To ensure that the fuel entering my model's tank is as clean as possible I use a small industrial type filter in the filling line from my fuel container.
