ch ignition help ON BME

I Have a bme 50 with ch ignition. I am new to gas, a few guys at the feild noticed my engine seemed to hicup or skip every once in awhile they thought it was needles setting then after I landed on my third flight the engine just shut off I then started it and it ran for about 15 seconds then shut down again, I was then not able to start the engine again. We pulled the plug no spark. When I got home I pulled the cowel off to investigate and found when I pulled the plug I now had spark I tinkered with it looking for a loose wire and then the spark stoped but did not seem to be related to and wires. when I turn the ignition on I get a spark and thats it if i turn the engine over some times I will get a spark for 2 or 3 turns but then it just stops and sometimes I can't get a spark at all. I removed the sensor and tried rubbing a magnet over it and was able to get it to fire once or twice but then that was it. I am new to gas and could use any help you can offer. What would be the fastest way to solve this problem so I can get back in the air.

Thanks,
Rob

Send the ignition back to CH and describe the problem. I had 2 bad ignitions from them that they replaced no problem. Or- you can find someone w/ the same ignition box and test run it with their box to confirm the problem.

Before you send it in, see if someone in your club has the CH ignition tester. Are you sure your battery is charged? How big is the battery you are running? I run a 1500ma pack on mine and could fly for probably 2 hours with no problems.

You pick up sounds bad.
I don't remember which two wires you have to short together to test it but the C&H site may tell you.
If you get a spark with power on, I would say the sensor is bad. If you pull it from the engine and move a magnet over it, you should get a spark every time.

THanks guys. it is weired I alwas get a spark when I turn the ignition on. and the other night wen I had the problem I would only get spark sometimes when I turned the shft sometime some times three turns in a row then nothing other times nothing at all. now I tried today and I seem to keep getting spark seems fine but I don't trust it. I called ch they told me it is either a sensor or the modual if I send the modual in for them to look at it could take up to 4 weeks to get back. I would hate to send it in if it is not that. What to do? I tried the magnet thing and was able to get it to sprk a few times then that was it. I did not try that today though.

Thanks,
Rob

FOund out some more things now and then when i touch the modual I noticed the spark fired. maybe it is a lose wire or short in the modual. Should the modual make my plug spark by my touch? Here is my delma I really would like the ignition back in a week or 2 but for weeks is too long. So I am thinking I will just buy a new ignition and send the other for repair but I hate to spend $130 on a new igniton.

Make sure the battery is charged. If you get a spark when you turn the ignition switch on, regardless of the magnet or sensor location, the module is good. Replace the hall sensor as they are more prone to failure. They are cheap so buy a spare one also! P.
