BME 50
Flew my BME 50 GP Patty W. today for the first time in a yr and half. Could not fly the big planes due to a back injury last summer and then had to have it operated on this year. Anyway plane started up just fine, but transtion from low to full was slow. Engine did not bog down but hesitated noticably even after a few flights. Engine has three gallons threw it, running a Menslik 22x8. In air engine poped some at idle but never died. The engine would also tick over very nice and slow at idle.

RE: BME 50
Hi,
Try retuning the carb. After all it has been sitting a while. There may be some trace amounts of fuel residue in the carb. Dave |
RE: BME 50
Too rich on the low speed needle ? Or should I take off plate and check the diaphram. Motor idles very nice and top end power seems very good. This is my only gas motorand I have not had much time with it.

RE: BME 50
Hi, Is the gas fresh? The diaphram sounds like it is doing its job of delivering fuel when needed at at the high end. The tuning procedure is available at the BME website in the PDF manual. http://www.bmeengine.com/html/manual.htm

RE: BME 50
Gas is not like glow fuel as far as shelf life. It gets stale. Dump that old gas and put some fresh mix in. You can sometimes smell the old gas and notice a distinct odor to it. If you don't go through your gas within 6 months or so, you can add Sta-Bil addative to make it last longer. Try fresh gas, let us know how it works after checking your carb adjustments.

New fuel and richened the low end a 1/16 did the trick.
