QS150
 

I would like to know what some of the owners think about the QS 150?
Any problems with leaks or overheating issues?
And what size prop is choice for both IMAC and 3D?
Any info would be appreciated..Thanks

awesome motor, no overheating as long as you baffle it, no leaks, etc. Great 3d and imac prop is 3w 31.5x14x8, but is very loud wide open. Perfect imac prop is fuchs 33x12. You find a good deal on one?

yeah I got one comming....I am a bit leary since my last 3W expierience with a "blue head" version....always overheating, deadsticked about everyother flight, and blew the back off one of the cannisters.
I just want to make sure I do all I can to prevent anything from happening.
I went to the3W site and downloaded some info for breaking in the engine, etc.
I got a buddy who flies with the same engine, and since he's had it..I personally saw him go deadstick 2 times and break acouple of headers.
Other guys I fly with who have older 3W's seem to have header issues...cracking and sometimes deadsticks.
So, anybody who has mastered the 3W thing...please feel free to chime in and offer some of your expieriences through the thick and thin...

was your blue head 3w a QS 150, those had some issues and most were recalled. Never broke a header, but I do use the flex headers, and either make mounts or use the 3w mounts which are very nice. any reason why you went with the QS 150 over a 157?

Most guys I see that have problems are caused by not baffling it correctly, and having the idle too low, these bigger motors tend to quit if you pull the throttle off too fast. I use a 2-speed idle setting using the throttle cut switch, when I get over the end of the R/W I hit the switch. And if the cans are mounted correctly so they don't flop around, you won't have header issues, although the flex headers are better than the solid ones. I will have a 157 here in a couple weeks, can't wait!!!
