Bme50 V G62
I have a G62 that is on magneto and one on C&H Ignition. I tend to like the Ignition better of the two but some say the magneto is simpler and less chance of interferience. I recently bought a new BME 50. Power wise how do they compare. I know there is a pound of difference in weight.

I have never owned the G62, but from what I have heard I will bet the BME has considerably more power. Same power and lighter weight is a better deal, but more power and lighter weight is an even better deal

BME50 V G62
The 62 has almost 20% more cc's but there could be other factors. I wonder how they compare as to prop. used and rpm's. Anyone have any thrust numbers?

Bme50 V G62
I own the BME, a close flying friend owns the G62. They both swing the same prop, within a few hundred R's. 22x10 6800-7000rpms. His Lanier Cap does seem to have a very slight edge in accelerated vertical. They are very close in power though, to close to tell without an accurate means of thrust measurement.
Now....the BME has got to be lighter, for sure then the mag equipped G62, and I'm sure as well with the Electronic version. Weight is where the BME will shine though. |
