Where is the G26 thread on problem to start when new?

Hi all

I read somewhere here by some nice folks posted a clear explanation on what to do about 4-5 key points when zenoah G26 not starting from NIB. Its due to some poor setting etc.

If you recall, pls post the thread url, thanks!

the needle base setting are 3+1/2 turns out from stop, prime the mtr and it sould pop,and if you took the carb off and the base plate it may be rotated 180 out of position , the crank pressure will not work the carb pump if its reversed, the base spacer plate that is, and check the space between the mag and the flywheel, not sure of the space but 10,000ths seems close, hope this helps some , craig

Where did 3 1/2 turns come from ?
2 on each is more than enough, the book says 1 3/8 + or - 1/4....
Rotor gap is .0118 to .0157
Scroll down a few pages to "G26 carb problems", the answer will be in there somewhere..

Does this still apply given that it is 2004 except maybe for the hi/lo screw setting?

Ah hopes you is not tryin to start it by hand ? ? ? You can't flip it fast enough. I can only start it by hand when it's hot, and to get it that way to begin with .... use a starter !

( ooops .... unless you iz usin Ralph's ignition :D )

Walbro carbs are designed to be set at about 1 1/2 on both, plus or minus a little..You will have to re tune your carb for whatever prop and muffler combo used, and for your altitude..I'm at 7000 feet, the carbs need to be leaner here than at lower altitudes...[8D]

Hi RCIGN1

On the needle setting, do I need to check them when its New in box to ensure that its as per instruction or its accurately set from factory. This is my first gasser hence the noob question.

I can't seem to get more info on your ignition system from your page, where should I look for?

Thanks!

Checking the carb needles when new is always a good idea..If you start with 2 turns the carb will be rich but the engine should start and run...Gradually lean out the high needle first, the G26s I convert all end up about 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 on both...
I'll put some more info on the website tonight....[8D]
