Ralph,have any idea why my 3w150 keeps blowing (or leaking gas ) around carb to intake and intake to reed and reed to crankcase?? New engine , terrible hesitation low end. Thanks for any help.:(

The design of the inslulator block under the carb leaves a little to be desired...They should have put 2 more bolts in the middle...The distance between the hold down blocks makes it easy to tighten the bolts too much and warp the block in the middle....The new blocks seem to be better than the older ones..I fixed some by sanding all the surfaces perfectly flat, then using some high tech Permatex anaerobic gasket maker (sparingly) on all the mating surfaces...
Check your bolts, maybe they're a little loose...
Don't get any of the sealer in the pulse holes...
DA uses G10 epoxy board, much stiffer...
You might also clean the block and look for a crack somewhere around the bolt holes...

The engine is new,sent back 3 times 1st time I called aand he said I could clean and reseal with only loctite 518.I took apart and the intake block was warped .017 so i sent back.2nd time first flight doing same thing, took appart and block still warped and still leaking.He sent new intake block and gsk's and I put together.Leaked first flight between carb and intake,resealed still leaking. Sent back again and still leaking after first flight.Hesitation the same.I'm wondering if they should'nt be using something better then 518??This is a engine I wish ups would have lost..LOL! I'm going to have to get a new box for this engine,wore it out shipping back and forth.

Looks like the 518 and my Permatex are the same, this is 51813.....
You might call DA, I think their block is almost the same.....[8D]

Ralph ,lookin at the bugger this morn. and it appears to be leaking a little at the base of each cyl. Black oil/gas not like whats around carb.Like maybe too much crankcase pressure or something,I don't know!!Thanks for your time. By the way the best engine I ever had was one of your G62's Third hand,The guy I sold it too still flying it Thousands flights.:eek:

Thanks ralph,might do it.It's just pricipal of NEW ENGINE,warranty don't mean much w/o service doe's it!

Is there any chance your over-tightening the carb manifold adapter bolts? I have seen this done more than once. They don't need to be super tight, just snug-em up and forget them.

The G10 DA manifold adapter will work with a little effort.

I'd suggest tightening the four cylinder retaining bolts. After a run or two its a good practice on a new engine and or installation to check all the engine and mounting bolts to make sure things have settled down and heat seasoned. Don't forget hte prop bolts and especially the muffler/header bolts.

The head bolts are so tight I'm scared to tighten any more.Cactus put the last intake on.And to me thats what i think happened to the first intake. (overtightened) Thanks

Ralph what would you have to do to a engine (lean or richen) from arizona moving to Virginia .That doesnt make much sense .Richen w/elevation?? Thanks
