Evolution 26
I bought the Evolution 26 to replace a g23 in a WWI bird. They obviously gave no thought to throttle linkage or choke hookup when they designed this one. Any one out there with a simple solution? Or any Ideas at all?

Hi,
you can see same topics here. |

Steve,
The solution is really quite simple. Grab a Dubro (or other) ball link and bolt it on the carb arm. Use the middle hole. Connect the pushrod to the servo, snap on the ball socket. Set the TX ATV to give you proper end points and you are done. I can't believe the difficulty that many people seem to want to introduce It is a straight push rod hookup. Oh, I disconnect the spring that closes the butterfly but this is personal preference. As to the choke on the other side see some of the shots that Dick Hansen has posted. Simple enough if you can't stick your finger through the front of the cowling just slip a piece of fuel line over the choke rod and make it long enough to reach outside the cowl so that you can turn it on or off. Ditto, I too find it no big deal, and it is very much like a glow engine.
I found much more difficulty in hooking up a Quadra or a RCS. I like to extend the arm a bit like Janch showed in his pics. Give a better adaptation of throttle to servo travel. |
RE: Evolution 26
I found that the choke is not needed. The carb is right up front, just open the throttle, give it a small squirt of gas, close the throttle. Usually fires on the first flip.

HEY! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR $400! Then you have to buy the exhaust!
Don't mean to sound hostile, but gee whiz----this ain't a cheap chainsaw conversion for $179. It does seem like you would get more for your money. |
