DA50 engine question
 

Well, here is a stupid question that maybe someone can help me with. I have my DA50 all cowled inside my Wildhare extra. I have a small hole drilled in the cowl side to access the needles. Now that I have a couple gallons through it, I wanted to start leaning out the high end needle. Which needle is which? My engine is mounted inverted and I cannot see inside good enough to tell which is the low and which is the high needle.

The front needle is the low end and the rear needle is the high end.

I just bought my first DA & haven't fired it up yet so I'll just quote you the manual. ;)

• The needle farthest from the engine is the “High End” needle. The needle closest to the engine is the “Low End” needle. Turning the needles clockwise “leans” the fuel mixture. Turning the needles counter-clockwise “richens” the fuel mixture.

Yep,, I had to take my cowl off to figure that one out last week, I had my manual at the house and my airplane shop is about a mile away, It was storming and raining so I just pulled the cowl loose,,[:-]

there is h and l below the neadle so h = high L= low look for the mark u shall find

srm99, I figured there was probably markings on the carb, but my point of the thread was that I did not want to remove the cowl.

Slide a peice of fuel tubing over each mixture screw so you can keep the screwdriver in the slot. I put my screw driver in the tubing and the tubing holds it in place, then start the engine, then adjust. A very safe way. All walbro carbs are oriented the same way, the idle is closest to the engine.
