Engine Recommendations
I have a 33% Extra 230 and I am ready to choose an engine for it. I am looking for a reliable engine that will not cause my plane to have all the interference (electrical noise) issues that i hear about. I am not a hardcore RC flier so I don't need a $600.00 engine. I have talked to others and they have suggested the Zenoha G62 and others have suggested the Fuji BT64 EI. Do any of you have an engine preferences within the guidelines that I have mentioned ?

RE: Engine Recommendations
Slopeguy,
Get the Zenoah G62. Great engine for the money, and will power ypur plane just fine. If you can find one with C&H ignition, you'll be much better off. |
RE: Engine Recommendations
Or one of RCIGN's G62, best buy on that engine around.

RE: Engine Recommendations
G62. I have one that's about 20 years old and it runs as good as anything out there. Iinstalled a CH Ignition on it for easy hand starting and low idle 2 yars ago. A lot of guys send there enginers to RCIGN and get the most bang for the buck out of it. Even with just the stock mag on it the engine in my opinion is still powerful and very reliable......Bill

RE: Engine Recommendations
I would put a 80 or so on it if it is a 33% find a old Brison, or find a used ZDZ80 or 3W 75,,,

I have my G62 on an old Extra 230 with a 96" wingspan and total weight is 24 pounds. It flys great with that engine but no unlimited vertical and of course no 3D or prop hanging. I have a Zinger 22x10 on it which a lot of guys claim that prop is only good for mixing paint. I agree. I'm sure I could get better performance with a better prop but I don't see the need. I don't get any radio interferance with the mag or the CH Ignition. It needs some speed to get off the ground but lands fairly good. Not as slow as my Edge on landings. I also agree that an 80 size engine would probably give it more capabilities.
