Ryobi Conversion

Has anybody tried a Ryobi 31cc conversion. I came asross one used very little in good shape. When I tore it down I noticed the carburator is mounted on the back of the crankcase. Will that be a problem?
Any input or advice will be appreciated. I may need to keep the carb and junk the rest of it.

Thanks.....Dave

Dave,
The Ryobi 31 and the Homelite are the two common conversion engines in the USA. Most reed valve singles have the carb in the rear, such as ZDZ, 3W and DA. Go to wackerengines.com for pictures and parts. Checkout this website on Ryobi conversion. It is old, but will answer some of your questions. Also vist the engine conversion forum on RCU.
