Brisk Spark plug alternative for MVVS/Evolution?
MVVS calls for a Brisk UR17 spark plug for my Evolution 45GX. I am having a hard time finding one.
What alternatives could be used if any? |

NGK BPMR6F. You will need to cut the top to match the MVVS Brisk.

* Champion RDJ7J or RDJ8J; or
* NGK BMR6F Choice is yours. Tip will need to be removed, it is slightly easier to do the NGK plug as it has a removable (screw on) HT fastener. Do a search in this forum on this subject, it has been raised a few times. Best of luck fiery |

You can find the plugs that will interchange at
www.sparkplugs.com If the Brisk is a taper seat plug with no gasket...TKG is correct...[8D] The BMR plug is a flat seat plug with a gasket, may not fit the resistor cap on the engine.. Just looked at sparkplugs.com, the Brisk is not listed in the database... |

BPMR6F is a projected tip plug - stays cleaner. It works fine in the ZDZ as a replacement for the Brisk UR17 which is not a projected tip plug. Both are tapered seat. The MVVS likely has enough plug clearance to run the projected tip also.

Personally I would not use the use the BPMR6F NGK in my MVVS 1.60 IFS. It is not the correct match to the Brisk UR17. It may work, but the projected tip may not promote optimal flame propagation in the MVVS head design. The electrodes on the UR17, RDJ8J or BMR6F (I have run all three) are of the same pattern (i.e. not projected) and stay clean in my application. I think running a good synthetic oil with properly adjusted needles helps ensure this. I run mine at 3% (33:1) ratio - I don't skimp on oil. fiery |
