Ignitions
FWIW.....I have been making ignition circuits for 19 years..Used the same parts all the time...They were guaranteed for life, no charge for replacement if anything went bad..Somewhere down the line something changed, and some of the circuits quit working..I know very little about electronics, and could not fix the problem...I called Bill at C&H and he has agreed to sell me ignition circuits, so from now on all my conversions will be using a slightly modified C&H circuit..Same lifetime guarantee as always...
There is no better ignition circuit made....:D |
RE: Ignitions
Just out of curiosity do you have any idea of what might have changed that caused your systems to not work right?
|
RE: Ignitions
Nope, if I did it would have been fixed...
I won't guarantee something that doesn't work 100% of the time... |
RE: Ignitions
Ralph, ever get a weight on that lightened/converted GT-80?
|
RE: Ignitions
5 lbs 6 0z with ignition, without mufflers...
|
RE: Ignitions
WOW! Now that's a diet!:D I'll let Lucas know so he can quit worrying about it being too heavy and just send it to you.[sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: Ignitions
Ralph,
We all know that you stand behind your work 100% and then some, but did the problem with the your circuits show up immediately or did they work for awhile and then quit. Also will the new ones be as frugal in their power demand as the originals were. Karol |
RE: Ignitions
They all worked when shipped, some ran for a while and quit..Yours is one of the older ones that works...
Bill is modifying the ones he sends me to take less current than his...I don't shield the plug wire and can use less power.. A shielded carbon center wire needs to have more initial spark to allow for some loss in the wire... My Zenoah coils have solid copper center wires are shorter and don't need the extra power... |
RE: Ignitions
That's good to know, as I have a G45 here that's waiting to be put on one of your extreme weight loss programs.

RE: Ignitions
Ralph,
What is the failure mode of the ignition? Does it cause a dead stick or just not run right? It would be good for us to know what to watch for. BTW, it's suppose to crack a 100 degree's here later this week, hasn't done that since 1995. It's as dry as Arizona and no rain expected for weeks. At least it keeps the mosquito population down. Dead stick...[:o]
