Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Hi Guys, anyone know anything about the Copperhead Venom 45cc gas engine. I can't afford the DA-50.

Can't say that I have heard anything much about that engine, but have read several impressive comments from users on this forum about the Brilleli and the BCMA 40 & 46 motors, their reasonable cost and the great customer service that goes with them.

The Venom 45 CC engine is very pretty, but all discussion of it seems to have stopped since its release. I have the BCMA 40, and would highly recommend it. I am still keeping my eye on the Venom information, though.

Does anyone have any links to this engine?

Here you go Geistware!

If you are wondering where else this engine has been discussed, here is a link I have been following:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_44...tm.htm#4490145 There seems to be some posts missing, as to who's carb is on the engine.[X(] |
RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
grampajames,
[link=http://www.scottellingson.com/]Brillelli[/link] engines are the way to go. I have had their 25cc, 26cc, and 40cc. Currently I am flying the GSP Giles 202 140 with the [link=http://www.scottellingson.com/]Brillelli[/link] 26cc swinging an APC 17X6 prop and have the 40cc on the business end of the new QQ Somenzini YAK 54 73". I'm also looking at the 46cc for my next project. These are great and affordable little gassers and the customer service is outstanding. I'm sure there are some better engines out there but look at the price. For a poor boy like me, you can't beat a [link=http://www.scottellingson.com/]Brillelli[/link] engine. |
RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Sorry I missed this thread.....
We just released the engines. There was a muffler issue and we held up the release until we came up with a solution. The original muffler was succeptable to cracking at the welds. Tim made a visit to our factory in China and redesigned it with the engineer. As for the carbs, their design is similar to the Walboro, but they are manufactured by our sister company in China. This is why you won't see reference made to them anywhere. Somewhere in here is a video of Hooks hovering an 18.5 pound Wild Hare Extra with the Venom 45CC. Yo Zippi, I haven't heard from you in a while. |

novabill,
What shakin dude??? I've went from Profile planes to gassers. Nice. |
RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Hey Zippi! I think we should just cut and paste our responses to the Brillelli/BCMA issue, in all the future inquireies into these two manufacturers; what do you think???:) No one can question our loyalty!;)

RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Does this make us groupies???

RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Flyer Freq,
:):):), I'd say that Scott and Mark at Brillelli and the boys at BCMA appreciate us keeping the flame going. Darn good engines for us poor boys :D. |

Novabill,
do you have the physical dimensions of the engine? Azhar |
RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Zippi,
Did you ever try a 16x8 prop on your 26 and if so how did the plane perform with it. Karol |

Thanks Bill. Will look forward to it.

RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
No, I thought the APC 17X6 worked fine so I keep it on and I'm still running it.

What seems to be you r problem ddotson? Why are you going around posting negativity? What is your real beef? just curious.

RE: Copperhead Mfg. Co.
Good old Ddotson with the roter cuff injury, how ya doing man? It would be good to see you suck up an put a can on it.
After reading the other thread you were beefing on I was troubled enough about what you said that I called Copperhead an talked to Tim about your percieved grievences. After hearing the other side of the story let just say I have a hard time believing much you say. Your particular 30cc engine seems to have been the most powerful one they have ran to date. I have had two of the 45 cc engines an they both ran beautifully. Tim even shipped me two new mufflers free of charge when they were having some trouble with them. He also shipped me a nut an washer I had lost......free of charge. Last time I checked thats called good customer service!!!!!!! Like Novabill said earlier I had a vid somewhere TRing a WH Extra with the 45 an thats an 18+lb plane. I was also using a 22x8 Zinger that was cut down to 21 inches or so to put it in the rpm range it liked. Sucky prop made even suckier by cutting the tips off. Is this engine going to go head to head with one of the $600 engines that still require you buy a $75 muffler? Nope not even going to try to make the comparison. Now do you want 95% of the performance at half the price? If so this is your engine. Its also about 6-8oz lighter then a DA 50 so it works out great with the newer crop of planes that are in the high 70 low 80 inch range that come in around 14-15 lbs. On my 18 lb WH it would do all the stuff but was getting anemic for the power I like but it did have unlimited verticle from a hover even though it was slow. It would IMAC a plane that weight fine up through the first few classes an probably beyond. Disclaimer Im not part of Copperhead an I also own a DA-50;):D |
