SPE 26 problem
Just bought a SPE 26 and have it set up on my test stand. In ten minute intervals, allowing it to cool between starts, it now has 1 hour and 10 minutes run time on it. I still can't get it to hand start, and even after tweaking then needle valves it will die if I try to adjust the rpm too quiclkly. Its 25degrees outside right now but that shouldn't matter, or would it? I would appreciate anyone's advicce. Even though I've been building and flying R/C for 25 years, this is my first gasser.

RE: SPE 26 problem
Red Raider,
I have the Brillelli SPE 26cc GT and I had a hard time hand starting mine and ended up using my starter. They will start with a standard HD starter. They are a little touchy on how much fuel they need to start them and it's really easy to get flooded. |
RE: SPE 26 problem
It is not good break in weather for a aircraft engine in open air at 25 degrees. Before you start it wrap cylinder with a shop towel and tie it there with heavy string. It will warm up quicker and start running at more favorable temps. Just do not let it overheat with a heavy ..high load. Only run short 2-min runs and vary RPM. See if that helps. Capt,n
