BME 100 Twin

Does anyone know the performance specs of this motor? What prop is best and at what RPM? Static Thrust? What is the best oil to add to fuel as well. Many thanks!

BME 100 Twin

About 6 weeks ago, when I was flying in Florida, I checked the BME 5.8 (100cc) of another modeler with my tach. With a Menz-S 26x10 prop - 6400 rpm. Don't know how much time on the motor, but well past break-in. Ran well and was pretty smooth. Any good 26x10 prop would be a good choice...Mejzlik if you like carbon fiber....Menz if you like wood. I wouldn't worry about static thrust measurements....not too meaningful for flying. For oil, BME probably says Amsoil at 50:1.

Tech stuff

There area number of different permutations and versions of the BME "100" throughout it's development, starting with a 2-bearing 5.8 and the last version being the current 102cc "Evo". Weight is currently about 4.37 lbs and performance is quoted in the 6600-6650 range with a menz 26-10, depending on air quality. That equates to about 38-40 lbs of thrust, and the 26-10 mejzlik or AM props are very good alternatives tot he Menz. The long awaited "Xtreme" is due out very soon, displacing 110 cc's with new cylinders cast especially for the engines, and will be able to easily swing a 28" prop.

As for oil and gas, break-in with any good 50:1 ration ASHLESS 2-stroke oil for about 5-10 gallons, then switch to either 50:1 or 100:1 Amsoil synthetic for best results. The gas shoud be in the 89 Octane range.
