Brison 4.2 or Fox 4.2 that is the question

I just came across a good deal on these 2 engines. The person selling them can only tell me that they both run and that is it. Does anyone now what the total weight with muffler and EI is on these engines. I went to thier repective web pages, but the total weight is not listed. Only the weight on the engine it sell.

I bet there is not more than an ounce or 2 difference. Internally, they are nearly identical.

depends on which version they are , and what muffler they have . the gold brison is considerably heavier than the last version.

That's odd. I don't know the specifics of the 4.2 Brison weights but I know that when he changed from the blue case 3.2 to the polished case 3.2 the only things that changed was the color. Same with the 6.4 twin with the later exception of the prop shaft diameter. Weights between those four engines remained the same. Early mufflers for the 6.4 were heavier than current versions but those are bolt on items.

If the 4.2 being looked at was the old A&M case it would be understandable.

he did some lightening to the 4.2 , he may have lightened some with the gold case also not sure, I have one of the older gold versions and it is heavier than the new ones including the fox 4.2.
If you want info on them just go to Fox manufacturing or call them and talk to Charley Thacker or Herold Willy. on the fox engines
Kangky can tell you about the Brison.
