Electronic ignition input

Ok, I have to say that I am a true magneto guy but, I just happened to stumble on a rcs 140. I ripped the thing completely apart and I am wondering what flavor of ignition I have? It says RCS 1000 auto advance on it. Next question, the C&H has a box with all the goodies in it and then another package to add syncrospark. The RCS seems to have it all in one package with a lot less bulk am I missing something? I will admit with all the info and success of these ign I am opening my mind a little. This has been my opinion, what can fail (electronic) battery, switch, internal components, connections, hall effect, (pros) weight reduction (not as much as people think) easy starting, smoother idle. Engine looks a lot better. What can fail (magneto) I guess the module could fail other than that I can't think of anything. I am going to give this electronic thing a go, I just want the most reliable (don't we all). Any input?

Thanks!!!

CH has the complete everything in one box also. The seperate timing control is to let folks with older systems easily upgrade to computer timing.
Look for Pn's begining with 1 hundred

I have a 180 (same ignition module) and called Terry at C&H the other day...about a CH auto advance for it...

He dosen't know if their unit will work with this motor...without having to machiene up a new prop adapter with their magnet and pickup...
He really dosen't know if the pickup in the back of the motor is a Hall efect type...was thinking of sending him mine and letting him find out...

I also have 4 motors with their ignitions....not a failure yet..

If you do anything please let me know...

I do not know what system is the most reliable.... but RCIGN1 has the best guarantee with it. It should work good with a 1.4 engine that does not need auto-advance. You can always add that auto-advance if you put it on a bigger engine. Capt,n

RCS 1000 ignition unit

Hey Guys!

The RCS 1000 IS an auto advancing microprocessor controlled ignition! The sensor in the engine is a hall effect semiconductor device. No need to switch; you already have the best available ignition unit.

I only meant that the RCS ignitions already had the latest technology. ;)

RCSHOWCASE: What happened to the $85 unit? Seems like when I emailed it went up to $112. Seems like they should go cheaper with mass production? Capt,n

Because the $ is worth about 20% less than it was a few years ago. Ignition made in Czech Republic (Euro cost the same, $ worth less).
