Quadra 35 starting problems
Having lots of problems getting this Q35 to start even when it's hot.
Keeps popping like it wants to go just won't go without flipping it like 30-40 times. Once it starts it seems to run pretty good even thru transition other than when I try to drop it to an idle. Sputters and dies. Noticed gas bubbling out of the venturi at a low idle Carb low speed needle is set at almost 2 turns out.High at 1 3/4 Has points and coil setup. Points are clean and flat. Don't really know how old the capacitor is.Plug is brand new. Have the points set at .015 gap and coil set at .010. Not sure where the plug is supposed to be gapped so left it at factory gap. Any advice? |

Is your gas fresh?

RE: Quadra 35 starting problems
very good question!
actually yes, it is but gas was one of the major problems. I used 87 octane and a less than perfect oil/gas mix ratio. I made up a new batch using 89 octane like the label on the oil says and was exact in my mix this time and it made all the difference. engine actually ran cooler with the higher octane |
