Prop for 4.2 Brisson

What prop is good on a Brissson 4.2 for aerobatic type planes?

Prop for 4.2 Brisson

I have a 24-10 3W on it I just wondered if it was about right. I have a 30% Carden Extra and it seems to fly fine with the 24-10 just wondered if ther was a better prop.

I fly a Bolly carbon 24-10 on mine, love it. LOTS of power, it gives my 27 pound own design plane plenty of climb authority and all around a great prop.

RE: Prop for 4.2 Brisson

This is an old thread but want to re-open it to get some added advice.

My 4.2 69cc Brisson on a 1/3 scale Laser spins a 22*10 Mejlik 7700 RPM on the ground. Feeling this was to high I mounted a 24*8 wood Grish. It is a wide blade that has it only spinning 6000 RPM. I'm concerned this is too much a load and can't figure why it dropped so much. Any one have any experience with a 24 *10 Mejlik on this engine and the RPM it produces?

Wide blade usually turns slower and the mejzlik is turning 100-200 rpm higher than many other brands which in some applications are preferred and good and sometimes less usefull.
If I remember it correct the Brisons where testrun and tached on Menz props before they send them out to the customers. My Brison 5,8 turned the MensS 26x10@ 6200rpm before they sent it to me.

A 22-10 on a 4.2 is generally too small of a prop. The 24-10 Mekzlik would be a better choice. If you could fine one, something other than Zinger, Master Airscrew, Top Flite, or APC in 24-8 would be fun to experiment with. Say A Xoar prop or similar if it was available in that size.

I've flown Menz, 3W and Bolly 24-10 wood props on my First Place 4.2s (very similar to Brisson) with very good results. The Bolly looks very similar to the Zoar props. I always thought a 24-8 would be a good choice but never found one to try. I've grown to prefer the Bolly props because they are available, pretty close to balanced right out of the bag, they're well finished and they perform well. These are made in China and I'm thinking they come out of the same factory as perhaps the Zoar and the new Wild Hare props.

Appreciate the comments from all.
Is 6000 RPM to low from the 24"*8 placing a strain on the engine or is the same RPM you are getting and everything is good?

7700 is no strain on any 4.2 engine...The chainsaws the parts come from turn 10,000 all the time...[8D]
