DA 50 choke access problem....

I just received by DA 50 engine. It's a fine piece of craftsmanship, BUT I am having difficulty figuring out how to access the choke. The lever arm is very short and has a large hole in it--not exactly servo friendly. I was hoping to avoid using a servo to activate it anyway. My engine is mounted using the included stand-offs, so the carb is about 1/4 inch from the firewall.) HOW HAS EVERYONE SOLVED THE CHOKE ACCESS PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE?? Any suggestions welcomed!

Choke on DA50

Check the ARF colum, Wagstaff Extra 300 thread, around page 126 or 127, post number 2482 and 2483. The guy posted some pics and it is an easy fix.

DA 50 choke access problem....

Thanks for that info. Looks like a much better way, but how to KEEP the valve in the open or closed positions?

open or closed

I used a servo on my choke. I ground off the supplied choke lever and modified a dubro steering arm with a ball link and hooked up to servo. Works great and also gives you another kill for backup.

Try this....I took my trusty Dremel and cut that little arm off (thanks John!!). be carefull not to cut into the actually butterfly arm because it is brass. Cut it just until you can barely see anysilver where you were cutting, then use a pair of plyers to work it off. Then go get you a 5/32 Nose steering control horn and bolt it on! That way if you swich planes for whatever reason you can adjust it accordingly.
