Wrapping ignition

Hi all;
I just read in another thread advice given that the ignition module be wrapped in foil to prevent interference. The engine was a Fuji 32EI. Is this something I should do upon installation? Should I wrap anything else?
Thanks!!

What does the Fuji instructions say? They know best.
The whole ignition box may well be metal plated on the inside, so wrapping in tin foil will add nothing in lieu of radio interference.

I wrap my EI modules in two to three layers of 3M aluminum foil tape as an extra precaution. It not only helps to shield RF, if any from the module, but can draw any heat away from the module case. Never had an RF or EI problem. I use the same tape on the inside of my cowls in areas close to hot exhaust pipes to act as a heat shield.

You have a point there.

Something I picked up from the early days of computers and printers when they wanted to make them secure. They put them in a box lined with copper foil. No RF emissions out for anyone to pick up.

At this point in time -- Isn't wrapping ignitions a bit like driving with your lights on to make sure the battery is not overcharged
(for the younger lads - this did happen)

In my own experience - if a modern ignition is used and a MODERN radio -interferrence from leaky spark emissions is Zip
the unless (caveat) --is unless there is loose or broken ground or HT lead/shield.

In my experience it's those "IFs" that usually bring about the vertical landings we all hate so much. That's why I take these little extra efforts.:D:D:D
