Dusting off unused engine

I have an engine which hasn't been used for over 3 years.

I would like to bring it out of retirement and service the walbro carb on it.

What parts do I need to change in the carb which may have deteriorated over time and storage ?

Thanks,

L

Possibly the pump diaphram might need changing and check the internal screen for debris, but why not try starting it first before fixing something that might not be broke. Who knows, it might surprise you.

If you can, get some oil in the engine before you start spinning it. After three years the oils left in the engine are gone. A couple drops in the exhaust port and a few drops on each bearing. If you want to real careful, check for loose carbon deposits and remove and clean the cylinder and piston crown.
And then as Karolh said remove the diaphram, check the screen, and when assembling the diaphram, gently massage some oil into the pump flapper diaphram.

Get a rebuild kit for that model carb. It will contain everything you need to change. I'd also soak it in fresh gasoline for a day and blow it out good.
