What To Do With Old Gas?
Forgive the dumb question but what would you guys do with 2 1/2 gallons of gas (mixed 40:1 with Penzoil 2S oil) left over from the fall? I don't use 2 stroke lawn equipment other than a 30cc string trimmer (that's a couple of years worth for that thing at the rate I use it) and don't want to run it through my Brillelli 46 for fear that it's to old. With that much oil in it, would it hurt my car or motorcycle (big 4-stroke)? I don't want to just dump it or burn it in the backyard.
What do you guys think??? |

I mix a few liters with the filled up tank of the car, never had a problem with that.

just give it away to a lawn cutting service...they'll use it....dont put it in your car

You can put in your vehicle, then go fill up you tank, actually the oil in the gas is good for the valves, it will give them some extra lube. Todays gasoline is dry (contains no lead) which helped lube the valves. So that little bit of oil in a full gas tank will not hurt at all.

ORIGINAL: smuff168 just give it away to a lawn cutting service...they'll use it....dont put it in your car I also put it in my vehicle. Once I mix a gallon of fuel mixed at 50:1 with another 22 gallons in my F-150 the ratio is 1150:1. So my question is why do you say to not put it in your vehicle? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, just wondering what is your reasoning. A lot of us do it without any noticeable bad effects. |

i put it in my mower life is good:D

Good idea, I may try that. Do you see a lot of smoke from the mower?

RE: What To Do With Old Gas?
Hi, name's Ken.
Do not put it in your mower, and yes you WILL get a LOT of smoke from using it. The mower will not run well either. Just dump it in your fuel tank of the car or truck (1/2 at a time to a full tank of fresh fuel). You will not have any problems with the perfofmance of the vehicle. Also just give it some thought: the relative ratio of oil to fuel when mixed with the fuel capacity of the tank of your vehicle is miniscule. It is a non factor, and won't hurt your emissions either. |

RE: What To Do With Old Gas?
Me too, I mow my lawn with it. The mower doesn't seem to notice it, no unusual smoking or anything else.

Hi.
Well there you have it, I say smoke will be, others say not. Well, my experience resulted in a lot of smoke. But, I haven't done this in a long while. Still, putting the stale oil mixed fuel in your vehicle's tank will not cause ANY problems whatsoever. Take care. Ken |
