I am about to buy a brison 3.2 that doesnt come with an ignition. I was curious as to how much that would cost to get a new one. any insight on this engine is appreciated.

what r u going to run it on? I ran mine on a DP Extra for many years, i parked the Extra to run the EF Yak. I am now off the peacekeepr and running a header and pipe. The clone ignition should save you a few bucks on the link that has been provided.

Hey,

It will be running in a Wild Hare Cap 232. I am pretty excited about it.

Yeah U R going to love a Cap. Is this your 1st gassers and also cap? If so make sure to fly your low rate elevator at no more than about 8-10 degrees of throw. I have had quite a few caps here is my lastest one that H-9 put back out. Hit us up if we can be of any assistance....[8D]

WOW! You guys are great! I couldn't ask for a nicer crowd.

Yes this will be my first gasser and my first CAP. I will be sure to make those adjustments.

I will be buying a whole new radio system and was wondering what a good set up would be without breaking the bank.

RE: Ignition question

If I recall correctly the older blue anodized Brison 3.2 had a mechanical advance ignition. Most of the ignitions currently being marketed are auto advance. Not a problem but you would have to make a slight change to the timing ring to use an auto advance. The engine originally was equipped with a CH Ignition mechanical unit.

If I was making the choice for myself I would go with the original. I've always liked, and still like, the mechanical advance. Personally I believe them to run a bit smoother in all rpm ranges than the autos. Call Terry or Bill at CH and see what they have to say.

The engine itself is an extremely good product and will last forever while providing excellent power if you don't do straight down vertical landings. Needle settings to get it started for tuning are 1-1/2 open for both and adjust from there. 22-8 prop in a better brand will take you just about everywhere you want to go.

RE: Ignition question

Pat,

You are recalling correct. The orginal needle setting from the factory are

Low needle 1.5 - 2.5 out
High needle 5/8 - 1 out

Mine has been treated me well from the 1999-2000 era of buying it.
