100cc plug distance, Getting it closer
1 Attachment(s)
There was a post about this but now I can not find it.
Did a little playing around with replacing the standard plugs with CM6 plugs, This is done by using a adapter that screws in the plug hole and makes it the same size as a CM6 plug. You save 1/4" in width and 1/4" in height, Here are a couple pictures to look at, The left side has the standard plug and the right side has the CM6 plug. Milton |

How about running the engine with the 14mm to 10mm reducers?
Any negative comments/side effects??? |
RE: 100cc plug distance, Getting it closer
Have not tried it on the 102cc but did do it on the 51cc with no noticeable difference, Will be the testing the 102cc later, right now only have one adapter and need to get a twin ignition for the CM6 plugs
I just had a customer to ask if there was a way to get the plugs closer so I just thought I would try and see if there was much difference. Milton |
RE: 100cc plug distance, Getting it closer
The 10mm plugs don't last as long but if space is critical it can be done. A little more pricey for the plugs since they aren't as widely used. The problem is obtaining some of the ignition systems with the right size caps. If you're prepared to change out the caps no biggie.

RE: 100cc plug distance, Getting it closer
Don't know how long the plugs will last but I have been running a 3W 150 for over two years with same plugs
the reason I did the swap over test was to see if it would work and save any space for 35% Extra cowls so I could offer it when new engines are ordered from me, The only up charge would be the extra cost for the CM6 plugs If anyone wants to try it on there engine I think Ralph Conninham has the ignitions and the adapters, He has good prices on the ignitions Milton |

Milton...
I have been following the flight tests and any info posted on this engine for a little while now, I am almost ready to purchase a twin for my 33% ( might have enough beginning of next month ) can you advise me what the distance is outside of plug cap to cap please? I like this engine over the DA 85 as it gives me a bit of growing room plane wise. Thanks |
RE: 100cc plug distance, Getting it closer
With standard plugs it is 11 3/8"
Going to set up one this evening with small plugs and see what it will be. Milton |

So far so good using the adapters and the cm6 style plugs, Seems to work as well as the original plugs.
