G26EI

Hi everyone, I have a situation with my G26EI that I would appreciate some expert opinions on.

My Ultra Stick Lite has been flying a while now with a G26EI, and I am loving it. I installed a CH ignition and have the timing set correctly now and it runs great, EXCEPT. If I dive down while the engine is idling, the engine sounds like it stops firing, the prop is still spinning, so I would say it is still running just that the rpm increase takes all the load of the engine and it must sound quieter than normal?? If I advance the throttle any amount ( slightly to full ) while diving, and the engine is sounding quiet ( no load ), it accelerates normally and runs perfect. If I leave the engine at idle and pull out from the dive, when the air speed slows down and the engine rpm drops down to normal idle speed, the engine sounds like it has loaded up from a way to rich idle, pops a few times and dies, every time.

I have tried adjusting the mixture setting anywhere from very lean to very rich, no change in this flame out problem except that it makes it worse when I richen it up from my normal setting. I have changed spark pugs, checked my fuel lines and done everything I can think of to cure this problem. No luck.

Other than this problem I have had no other problems or flame outs at all, it will flame out every time if I repeat these conditions. I have gotten used to it by bliping the throttle while diving to keep the engine firing normally.

I am using 87 octane gasoline with Honda GN2 racing 2 stroke oil. Stock muffler, Stock carb, Zinger Pro 18-6 wood prop. Lipo 2S battery with Castle BEC regulator 5V output for my ignition power, Engine is mounted inverted on the plane.

Is this problem common for gasoline engines on airplanes? Any suggestions??

THANKS!!
Ryan

RE: G26EI

You DO NOT have a problem. Tune the engine so that it runs proper and go fly. You'll get used to the silence when going down hill.
When diving at idle the prop is turning faster faster than the carb is set for. The fuel mix goes off and the sounds like its died, but as you see it comes back when things are balanced
