RE: DL-50 Engine Temp
Just curirus, why do you care? If you put it in a less than 90" plane a 22~23 inch prop, have a way for the air to get to the engine and leave, tune it half way correctly it's going to run fine. 280* f.

Straight after a flight mine is 95-100deg C

RE: DL-50 Engine Temp
what in flight temps?
You probably point an IR gun at the cool front of the cooling ribs, whilst the engine has cooled down during idle. If you want to measure, you need a probe, fixed to the back of, and snug up against the cylinder in topmost location. Then you also need to shield the sensor from the cool airflow. Do not be surprised if you measure 200°C or even more. Temps below 160°C are safe. Below 140° is best, measured during flight, not after. |
RE: DL-50 Engine Temp
After many years building and running engines, cylinder temps can run up to 300- 400 degrees on a test stand or in the plane, with a ir gun and the area around the spark plug painted flat black These temps are perfectly normal, if lower then the engine is not producing maximum horsepower.

RE: DL-50 Engine Temp
My 280*F was max measured in flight, And I am getting the max out of the motor.

RE: DL-50 Engine Temp
Thats good You did not state how you were measuring. Was not trying to cause an argument, just stating facts,
